Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter has called on the incoming administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish veterinary desks in federal government agencies such as NEMA, NDLEA, Immigration, the Customs and the FRSC.
The chairman of the chapter, Dr Ifeanyi Ogbu made the call at an occasion to mark the celebration of World Veterinary Day 2023 on the theme, “Promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness in Veterinary Profession.”
According to him, in gender equality, the association has filled the needed number of women in running its affairs.
He expressed confidence that if all professions, religious bodies, trade unions, government and the people can learn from the vet profession on how to strengthen diversity, equity and inclusiveness in all they do, the whole of Africa will get better.
The chairman of the occasion and senate deputy chief whip, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi stressed the need to promote diversity, equity and inclusiveness in the veterinary profession.
In the same vein, the executive secretary of Agriculture Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Professor Garuba Hamidu Sharubutu said the veterinary profession must be the collective responsibility of all veterinarians who must be ready to take leadership roles at all times.
