Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved 10 contracts estimated at N33.1 billion to upgrade various facilities, including the Presidential Wing hangar and kitchen.
Other projects include constructing a road leading to the new EFCC Academy in Giri District, Abuja, and developing 10 staff quarters for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari.
The contracts were approved during a meeting of the FCTA’s Executive Council which was presided over by the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
After the meeting, the executive secretary of FCDA, Shehu Hadi Ahmad; mandate secretary for transportation, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Elechi; chief of staff to the FCT minister, Chidi Amadi and secretary of the legal services secretariat, Salman Dako, briefed the press.
Ahmad said the road to the EFCC Academy would be constructed by Messrs Levant Construction Limited for N7.8 billion with a nine-month completion period.
The council also approved rehabilitation of roads within the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
This includes repair of facilities such as the airport apron, taxiway and the presidential kitchen.
“Currently, there is insufficient access from the main road (Bill Clinton Drive) to this area. Thus, we are prioritising the rehabilitation of the access road and the hangar, where the presidential aircraft is housed,” he said.
The contract for renovation of the Presidential Wing has been awarded to Julius Berger at N9.8 billion with a six-month completion period.
The contract for design and construction of 10 staff quarters at the Nigerian Law School in Bwari was awarded to Messrs Austlinks Energy Services Limited for N2.1 billion.
It will include four-bedroom bungalows and improvements to the external road network, water supply and drainage systems.
Another contract worth N2 billion was approved for the supply of diesel and petrol to the Wupa Basin sewage treatment plant awarded to Messrs Safah & Fresh International Ltd, among others.
