The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has demolished many residential buildings in Okanje district of the FCT after several failed attempts to recover illegally acquired lands from grabbers.

Okanje district is one of the fast developing areas within FCT and is surrounded by  Kabusa community and other well-designed mass housing estates.

The demolition exercise which came after several warnings and notices from the Department of Development Control was effected by a combined team of the military and paramilitary forces and lasted for several hours.

It was gathered that the director of Department of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, had meetings with both community leaders and land grabbers to ensure that affected people vacate the illegally acquired lands.

It was discovered that all the available fallow lands meant for purposed development in line with the Abuja masterplan had been illegally taken over by people with the help of some indigenous people.
