The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has restated commitment to improving the standard of small-scale business in the territory by creating opportunities through infrastructure development and socio-economic programmes.

The permanent secretary of the FCT, Mr. Olusade Adesola who made this known at the just concluded third edition of the Abuja SME Expo with the theme: “Expanding The Pie: Unveiling Market Access Solutions For A More Sustainable Market System,” said the overview was to also make Abuja not to be seen as just a civil service city as many thought.

According to the permanent secretary who was represented by Engr Felix Obiora Nwankwo, Abuja is not just a civil service city, but also for business people.

“We believe that the FCT will yield a more inclusive society where everyone is given the enabling environment to succeed. We are putting measures to advance the growth of the SMEs subsector and to improve the general well-being of residents of the FCT. One such measure is harmonising taxes and wages in the FCT. When concluded will tackle the issue of multiple taxes and reduce the operational cost of SMEs and improve their profitability,” he said.

Earlier, the acting managing director of the Abuja Enterprise Agency, Mallam Shehu Abdulkadir, said the three day-event was aimed at creating market access for entrepreneurs within the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
