Olayinka said on February 2, 2025 at approximately 3:32 pm, a team led by the Director of the Medical and Diagnostics Department conducted an investigation in response to allegations against the clinic.

“The facility was accused of operating without proper registration and performing medical procedures in a rented apartment deemed unsuitable for healthcare services, falsely presenting itself as a Medical Outreach.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that a community elder had tragically passed away following a hernia operation at the clinic, while other reports indicated several patients who had barely survived procedures and subsequently required emergency care at other facilities.

“Upon arrival, the inspection team found the clinic located along the main road to the community, in a severely deteriorated and unsanitary state,” he said.

According to him, the building which is unpainted lacking essential features such as windows, doors, a reception area, a nursing station, or toilets, comprised four rooms and a general area, alongside an unfinished extension that was also in unacceptable condition.

Olayinks added that Sabiu claimed to manage the facility and acknowledged that Dada’s Clinic & Maternity was not registered with PHERMC. “At the time of the inspection, three patients were present, including an elderly individual receiving intravenous treatment.

“All patients were found to be stable and were promptly referred to Kuje General Hospital for appropriate medical care. Following this, the clinic was sealed, and Mr. Sabiu was handed over to police for further investigation at around 6:00 PM,” he said.

FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike had reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to ensuring the provision of safe and regulated healthcare services.

The minister highlighted that the accreditation process for health facilities is straightforward, stating there is no justification for operating illegally.

He also declared that all unregistered medical facilities will be sealed moving forward to safeguard residents from hazardous medical practices.
