Despite the presence of security apparatus in Oyo State, some youths, under the auspices of #FearlessInOctober took to the streets in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in protest, calling on the federal government to ameliorate the suffering of the people.

The protesters who marched from the University of Ibadan main gate to the Mokola Roundabout, noted that the situation was becoming unbearable.

However, the Independence Day holiday declared by the federal government resulted in poor turnout of both human and vehicular movements at the protest.

Some residents, especially traders were seen displaying their wares, while few commercial motorists and motorcyclists were operating without hindrance.

A trader, Mojisola Ojo said the protest did not have any meaningful impact on the commercial activities due to the public holiday.

Earlier, the state police Command had enjoined parents and guidance to caution their children to desist from any form of illegalities that could breach the peace of the state.
