The Presidency has expressed President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering confidence in the upcoming judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) on the February 25 presidential election, saying the President remained unfazed.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Tribunal is set to deliver its verdict on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 regarding petitions challenging Tinubu’s electoral victory in the February 25 elections.

However, Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in an exclusive interview with Channels Television, conveyed that President Tinubu harbours no concerns about the Tribunal’s decision, emphasising that he refrains from making threats to judicial officers regarding the election petitions.

According to him, Tinubu firmly believed in the integrity of the Nigerian judiciary and trusted that the panel of Justices would make their judgment based solely on the presented evidence.

He further underscored Tinubu’s commitment to respecting and upholding the country’s institutions, regardless of the judgment’s outcome, asserting that Tinubu remains untroubled because he is confident in his election victory.

Ngelale stated that the evidence was on their side, and they have presented a compelling case before the Tribunal.

He said the president has “confidence and faith” in the judiciary, adding that Tinubu was sure that his mandate would be affirmed.

“Unlike some political gladiators in the country, the president sees no need to threaten judicial officers,” he said.

“He believes the great men and women on the panel will make their decisions based only on the facts before them and not based on anything else.

“As a result of his confidence and faith in the judiciary, he believes that the mandate which Nigerians freely gave to him during the elections would stand. That is the position of the president.

“He will continue to ensure that no matter what the outcome of the judgment is, he does his part and ensures that our institutions continue to be respected, not just by him, but by all actors.

“He is not worried because he knows he won the election. We believe that we have presented the best case and the evidence is on our side,” he added.
