The Youth Economic Intervention and De-radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) has distanced itself from an advertorial circulating on social media, which claimed the programme was offering agricultural training scholarships alongside a N500,000 business grant through Fidelity Bank Plc.

In a press statement signed by its Coordinator-General, Comrade Kennedy Iyere, YEIDEP described the social media advert as false and handiwork of criminal elements seeking to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

According to the statement, the false material bore the logos of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and Fidelity Bank Plc, giving it a false appearance of authenticity.

Iyere stressed that YEIDEP had no such partnership or initiative as advertised in the viral flyer, warning that it was a tool for financial fraud.

He explained that all legitimate information regarding YEIDEP’s activities is disseminated through recognised national newspapers and the official communication platforms of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, including updates from the office of the Honourable Minister.

The Programme, therefore, urged the public to disregard the flyer and remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes.

YEIDEP reaffirmed its commitment to transparency in its operations and advised Nigerians to verify any information about its programmes through official channels before taking action.

“Please note that news about YEIDEP’s activities are usually widely published and reported in major National Dailies and also on the website of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, specifically the news platform of the Honourable Minister.

“Therefore, the general public is advised cautioned to disregard the said flyer and treat it as a tool for
fraudulent operations,” Iyere added.
