The secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) George Akume has challenged the newly appointed corps marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, to work towards reduction of road traffic crashes.
Akume, who decorated the new corps marshal, said the position was a sensitive one hence much was required from the new management to reduce accidents across the country.
Mohammed was appointed on May 20, 2024 and took over from the former corps marshal, Dauda Ali Biu.
Until his appointment, Mohammed was the zonal commanding officer (ZCO) in charge of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State.
The SGF also urged the new corps marshal to use his wealth of experience to bring sanity on the roads, noting that the FRSC was created to make the roads safer for all.
He said, „We wish you the best on this new assignment because the assignment is sensitive and very important.”
He commended the FRSC for the various initiatives towards reducing road traffic crashes and fatalities.
