At least 1,000 Nigerian youths are set to benefit from a shoemaking and maintenance training programme organised by the office of the special assistant to President Bola Tinubu on capacity development, Alhaji Sadiq Rabiu, in partnership with Reality Youth for Good Leadership and Support Initiative.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, the deputy executive director of the NGO, Engr. Musa Idi revealed that the empowerment programme would be conducted in two days.
He noted that the training is designed to equip participants with practical skills, enabling them to become self-reliant and potentially create employment for others.
According to him, participants will receive shoe maintenance kits at the end of the training to help launch their ventures.
He added that preparations have been finalised and the official date for the training will be announced soon.
Engr. Idi emphasised that the Reality Youth for Good Leadership and Support Initiative’s mission to empower Nigerian youth, promote good governance, foster community engagement, and enhance leadership skills aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“He has agreed to partner with us, sponsor the training, and encouraged us to proceed,” Idi stated.
The programme will initially target youths from the Northwest subregion, covering Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara. To ensure inclusivity, the beneficiaries will be selected in collaboration with community leaders and political stakeholders.
Engr. Idi also called on all levels of government and well-meaning Nigerians to support initiatives to empower the less privileged through partnerships with NGOs and development organisations.
