The minister of agriculture and food security, Abubakar Kyari, stated this while commissioning some projects under the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) in Abuja.

The projects include a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic, fish pond, and store complex that will advance livestock health, aquaculture, and research efficiency.

The minister also launched the Renewed Hope Agricultural Technology Adoption Programme (RHATAP), a flagship initiative to accelerate the adoption of climate-resilient technologies among smallholder farmers, focusing on productivity, resilience, and food security.

At the event, Kyari hailed the projects as “symbols of Nigeria’s collective determination to transform agriculture.”

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to climate-smart agricultural practices, to ensuring the availability of viable seeds, and to strengthening agricultural education.

Executive-secretary of ARCN, Professor Garba Sharubutu, expressed gratitude to the ministry for its continued support and leadership.

He noted that the newly inaugurated facilities will contribute significantly to agricultural research, disease surveillance and capacity building for young farmers and researchers.

“The veterinary clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for disease control, while the Fish Pond will serve as a training hub for young farmers.

We are also proud to flag off RHATAP, which will drive technology adoption and enhance food security,” Sharubutu stated.
