The minister said the National Assembly has become an incubator for exceptional leadership in Nigeria, stressing that the emergence of two senators as president and vice president of Nigeria, with a senator as secretary to the government of the federation is a show of the quality of individuals the parliament has produced so far.

Sununu made the remarks when he received the National Forum of Former All Progressives Congress Legislators under the leadership of former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives Babangida Nguroje, where he equally called on the former legislators to brace up to support the current administration through quality advise and determination to serve if called upon.

In his address, the national coordinator of the forum, Nguroje drew the minister’s attention to the need to prioritize the education of the less privileged and ensure that there is a significant upward trend in the number of children in schools, stressing that “no country can make any meaningful development if such country fails to prioritize education because education is the bedrock of every nation.

Nguroje said, “Even the economic challenges we face today can be resolved through quality education of our children and we must do all within our powers to make education a top priority for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians.”

The coordinator who spoke on behalf of the forum also stated that the forum supports the current administration in any way possible adding that “this is our country, we don’t have any other country we can call our own, we must secure the future generation with good policies and exhibit a high sense of patriotism”.

On his part, the minister expressed delight at the visit and assured that the renewed agenda of the current administration will be anchored on trust.

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who doubles as the leader of the All Progressives Congress has been tested, and the APC as a party has equally been tested, “what is now left is trust, we need Nigerians to trust our President and also trust our party.”
