The minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Faruq, has called on Nigerian youths to rise up to the challenges of the moment so as to stand independently on their feet.
Sadiya implored the youths to always complement government’s efforts in doing away with anything that would lead to retrogressive tendencies.
She stated this during the closing ceremony of a three-month training for youths on different skills under the N-Knowledge programme held yesterday at the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Karfi Campus, Kano.
Represented by the focal person in Kano State, Aisha Jaafar Yusuf, the minister said the programme was focused on equipping young Nigerians with relevant skills and certification to become competent workers, innovators and entrepreneurs prepared for both the domestic and global digital job market.
The beneficiaries were trained in hardware, software, animation, script writing and other life-changing skills under the N-Knowledge programme. They had been in residential training since February.
The minister who said the N-Knowledge expansion training was coordinated in the FCT and training camps in the six geo-political zones, charged the beneficiaries to make optimum use of the opportunity given to them to become solution-providers and entrepreneurs in their communities.
“I am specifically here to symbolically bid farewell to all the trainees of the N-Knowledge training programme for the six geo-political zones of the country.
“It was designed to achieve Mr President’s goal of poverty reduction and job creation, especially as it targets the unemployed youths for competence building and gainful employment.
“You will confirm by now that the N-Knowledge programme is focused on equipping young Nigerians with relevant skills and certification to become competent workers, innovators and entrepreneurs prepared for both the domestic and global digital job market,” she said.
Beneficiaries will earn N10,000 monthly for the nine months period of their apprenticeship.
