A federal delegation has commended the Kogi State government for its investment in infrastructure and healthcare projects.

The delegation, comprising members of the Presidential Media Team and Renewed Hope Ambassadors, made the declaration after a three-day inspection of development projects across the state.

The ambassadors toured projects in Lokoja, Okene, Yagba West and Kogi East, inspecting major road projects, healthcare facilities, schools and the Lokoja International Market.

During the tour, state officials said that ongoing federal economic reforms had provided states with more resources to execute large-scale development projects.

The delegation also visited upgraded primary healthcare centres and the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, where state officials testified that investments were improving access to quality healthcare.

During the tour, the special adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said the projects aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is well and alive in infrastructure, education and agriculture. Definitely, the hopes of Nigerians have been renewed, both at the federal and state levels,” Dare stated.

At the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital, formerly the Reference Hospital Okene, authorities commended the investment in the healthcare sector, saying it is expanding access to quality medical care.

At the hospital, the commissioner for Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, stated that the facility boasts of the only hospital-based hyperbaric oxygen treatment chamber in the country.

“The only hospital- based hyperbaric oxygen chamber sits in this hospital. This hospital is also going to serve as a teaching complex for the recently accredited MBBS programme at the state-owned university in Osara”, Adeiza said.

The commissioner said, “Hopefully, by August next year, we should be welcoming our clinical students in the state-owned university into this facility.”

The delegation also inspected the reconstruction of the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road along the federal highway, as well as newly completed internal road networks and erosion control projects.

A resident who spoke during the inspection said, “We thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because he is connecting the whole country with all these legacy projects.”
