The full accreditation was conveyed through a letter by the Director of Polytechnic Programmes Department of NBTE, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar.

NBTE also approved the introduction of eight new academic programmes, expanding the institution’s academic portfolio in alignment with evolving national priorities and global trends.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the institution’s Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Alhaji Mohammed Wada, the development marked a landmark achievement, affirming the Polytechnic’s academic excellence and institutional strength.

The newly approved programmes include Higher National Diploma (HND) in Crime Management; Cooperative Economics and Management; Taxation; Cybersecurity and Data Protection; Artificial Intelligence; Strategic Communication and Media Studies; Film and Multimedia Production.

Meanwhile, the institution also received approval to offer National Diploma (ND) in Urban and Regional Planning.

While commending the Polytechnic’s commitment to academic quality and innovation, the NBTE highlighted specific areas requiring attention to fully regularise the new programmes.

These include improvements in operational costs, infrastructure, and equipment, areas the institution said it was already addressing in line with NBTE standards.

Commenting on the development, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman, described the accreditation as “a bold validation of the Polytechnic’s capacity to deliver high-quality technical and vocational education aligned with Nigeria’s developmental goals and global best practices.”

He added that the newly approved programmes reflect the institution’s proactive approach to digital technology, media innovation, economic development, and urban planning.

Rabiu further stated that the accredited programmes will be due for another visitation in 2030, while the newly introduced programmes will be up for accreditation once the first cohort reached their fourth semester.
