The management of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology ( AFUSTA) Aleiro in Kebbi State has sought the intervention of TET-Fund and other stakeholders for the fencing of its 6 kilometers campus.
The call was made by the vice chancellor of the University, Prof Danshehu Bagudu Gwadangaji during a news briefing held at the Conference Hall of the University in Aleiro.
He said that the call has became necessary due to the persistent kidnappings and other criminal activities by bandits and vandals.
“We are in a stage of coma and fear where we have thousands of students both male and female including some communities living in the campus without fencing,” Prof Danshehu alerted.
” I met with TET-Fund officials in Abuja and other stakeholders like Senator Muhammed Adamu Aleiro where I complained to them about our plights particularly on lack of fencing in our University in Aleiro,” the VC added.
On the issue of promotion Danshehu said the university has completed two years promotion of 57 academic and 79 non- academic staff within one year of his leadership in the university.
The promotion according to him, covered 2023, 2024 while the 2025 is in the process and expected to commence immediately after the completion of the 2024 promotions.
He added that the completion of the 2024 promotion exercise within one year was as a result of setting aside N10 million from the University’s Internally Generated Revenue ( IGR ).
Prof Danshehu Gwadangaji however challenged anybody who is in doubt about the promotion exercise to approach the university management for clarification and confirmation.
Other achievements recorded within one year of Danshehu’s leadership in AFUSTA courtesy of the governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu include; appointment of a functional Governing Council led by Hon Hali Bala Jikandaudu, appointment of the fourth Substantive Vice Chancellor, increase of monthly allocation from N5 million to N 15 million, implementation of four years of outstanding annual increments, approval of consequential salary adjustment and new minimum wage, additional N10 million monthly support for personnel in the College of Health Sciences, payment of students scholarship across disciplines, approval of N449,400.80 for MBBS accreditation, Nursing verification and National Medical Council accreditation exercise, monthly N5 million for strengthening University security architecture, approval of Kalgo Specialist Hospital as AFUSTA’s Teaching Hospital.
