The Federal Ministry of Works has announced that the Independence Bridge in Lagos will be closed for 10 weeks for rehabilitation.

According to the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Engr (Mrs) Olukorede Kesha, the closure will begin on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and is expected to be completed by May 31, 2025.

The controller emphasised that this closure is essential to facilitate maintenance and rehabilitation work on the bridge.

She said: “The closure will affect traffic travelling from the Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge and Onikan by zone 2.

“The Independence Bridge will remain closed until the end of May 2025 for repairs.”
