FG Upgrades FMC Birnin Kebbi To Teaching Hospital

The Federal Government has announced the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State to a Teaching Hospital.

The was contained in a letter addressed to the vice chancellor of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), Prof MZ Umar signed by the minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa, a copy of which was made available to newsmen yesterday in Birnin Kebbi through the director of Information and Public Enlightenment of the institution, Jamilu Magaji.

The letter further indicated that the approval for the upgrade is a further testimony to the passion and commitment of President Bola Tinubu in ensuring that Nigerians get the best healthcare at an affordable rate and to increase the much-needed human resources for health in the country.

The letter also conveyed the directive by the minister to the management of the university to engage the management of the Federal Medical Centre hence, to become Federal University Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi to upgrade their facilities for teaching and research purposes.

Vice chancellor of the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi in his response to the letter, expressed delight over the development and committed the university to doing all it takes to consolidate the gains that the upgrade provides.
