The publisher and convener of the Good Governance African International Network, Dr Silvester Omose, urged the federal government to provide good governance for its citizens to achieve its developmental goals during a one-day sensitisation and award-winning program held in Abuja with the theme “Good Governance, the Pathway to National Development.”

He emphasised that Nigeria has the potential to be a better place if the leaders focus on providing basic facilities for the citizens. Hence, look inward and identify the needs of the people, especially the youth.

He said, “By creating an enabling environment for the citizens, Nigeria can flourish and become one of the best countries in the world. One of the major challenges facing Nigeria is the lack of adequate electricity, which hinders the potential of many talented youths.”

Omose urged the federal government to address the country’s hardship issues and provide affordable energy solutions to enhance developmental growth.

Also, the keynote speaker, pastor Engr. Gabriel Omolaolu stressed the need for collective responsibility in rebuilding Nigeria, emphasising the need to address corruption, insecurity, disunity, and economic instability in Nigeria.

“We call for conscious effort by citizens and leaders to create a stable and progressive society. Nigeria’s challenges, including religious crisis, ethnic division, corruption and economic instability, are enormous; something must be done for good governance to thrive.” He said

Similarly, the founder and chairman of the governing Council at Philomath University, Dr Colins Aimuan, emphasised that governance should be structured so that citizens understand the system of practice with clear principles to achieve the needed economic development in the country.

“When citizens actively participate in democracy and respect institutions. Transparency and inclusiveness in governance will become a societal norm,” Aimuan said.
