Committed to alleviating the economic hardship and hunger currently being experienced by Nigerians, Fidelity Bank plc, in partnership with the Abbasid charity Foundation has donated 2,000 packs of assorted food items to needy individuals drawn from communities in Kaduna North local government area of Kaduna through fidelity food bank Initiative.
Beneficiaries from the selected communities who trooped out in their thousands consisting of aged men, women and nursing mothers expressed their gratitude upon receiving the packages, as they said the items came at a time that they struggle to feed themselves.
The benefiting communities are Kwaru, Malali, Angwan-Kanawa, Angwan-Sarki, Badarawa, and Kawo all in Kaduna North. The distributed packages contained rice, gari, noodles among others.
Speaking at the Fidelity Food Bank initiative, Alhaji Sadi Zawiya, Regional Bank Head of Fidelity Bank, highlighted the bank’s commitment to partnering with several organizations to regularly provide food and other sorts of assistance to those in need.
He emphasized that the fundamental issues of poverty and hunger can make a lasting difference in the lives of many Nigerians“by investing in the well-being of these communities, we can help build a brighter future for all.”
He described the initiative as a cornerstone of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, particularly in the areas of health and social welfare.
“We understand that access to basic necessities, such as food, is essential for individuals to thrive and reach their full potential. The introduction of the Fidelity Food Bank initiative reflects our dedication to eradicating hunger in underserved communities throughout Nigeria.”
Also speaking to newsmen on the sideline of the distribution, Victoria Abuka, Team Lead for Fidelity Bank Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosed that Fidelity have 19 partners across the country that distribute 10,000 packs of food to the poor on a monthly basis. “Our partners identify the needy communities where we distribute the items,” Abuka added.
Earlier, in her address, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe represented by the Commissioner Human Services and Social development, Hajiya Rahila Salisu
commended the initiative and urged other well-to-do Nigerians to emulate it by supporting the less privileged and vulnerable in the society.
She acknowledged the country’s current hardships and reassured that the Governor Uba Sani administration is working tirelessly to support the needy.
LEADERSHIP reports that the venue for the distribution was filled to capacity with every beneficiary made to sit in an orderly manner.
