Fintiri Pardons 42 Inmates To Mark 100 Days In Office

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has pardoned 42 inmates and granted bail to 27 others to mark a hundred days in office.

The inmates mostly on awaiting trial from Yolde Pate Correctional Centre, were freed Monday.

They were released based on
recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy to decongest correctional centers across the state.

State Chief Judge, Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, who led Jail Delivery Committee, also convicted 2 inmates out of 203 attended to by the committee.

Amongst those convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment each were two suspects who confessed to the alleged offences of which they were remanded for.

Yolde Pate New Medium Security Custodial Center is currently housing 865 inmates.

Most of the inmates pardoned were on detention for breach of trust, criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.
