Fintiri Urges Corps Members To Promote Peace, Patriotism In Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri , has called on corps members serving in Adamawa State to remain patriotic and promote peace during and after their service year.

The governor made the call on Friday at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation course of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), held at Damare camp in Girei Local Government Area.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House Yola, Edgar Amos Sunday, Fintiri urged the corps members to cultivate leadership qualities, embrace service to humanity, and act as ambassadors of national unity wherever they are posted.

He noted that in response to prevailing economic challenges, the state government provides a monthly stipend of ₦30,000 to corps members serving in Adamawa, as part of measures to ease hardship.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of corps members, assuring them of a conducive and secure environment throughout their one-year service.

He further encouraged them to remain disciplined and dedicated, stressing the need for sacrifice and meaningful contributions to national development.

He also urged the corps members to actively participate in community development service, noting that their efforts at the grassroots would have a lasting impact.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Wali Yakubu, commended the governor for his continued support of the NYSC scheme, including the provision of facilities at the orientation camp.

He encouraged corps members to participate fully in camp activities and take advantage of opportunities for skills acquisition and self-reliance.

Yakubu also acknowledged the role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and stability in the state, which he said has contributed to the smooth conduct of NYSC activities.

Also speaking, the NYSC state coordinator, Caroline Osoro, commended the governor’s commitment to youth development and assured continued collaboration with the state government.

She disclosed that a total of 1,822 corps members were registered for the orientation course, comprising 997 males and 825 females, and urged them to be disciplined and serve as agents of peace.

The oath of allegiance was administered by the State Chief Judge, Hapsat Abdu-Rahman, represented by Ulila Ladokiya Ekaro, who charged the corps members to remain committed to national service.
