Fire Guts Section Of Lagos Airport Hotel

There was panic at the Lagos Airport Hotel in the Ikeja area  yesterday  as fire gutted a section of  the popular Airport Hotel located in Ikeja area of the state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that fire engulfed a section of the hotel and firefighters and other emergency responders battled  with the fire and put it out.

A guest who identified himself as Mudashiru Peter said, “We noticed smoke coming out from one end of the hotel and we quickly moved our cars and belongings out so that we don’t lose our lives and properties to the fire. They have put out the fire. No life was lost. We thank God.”

Confirming the fire incident, the director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret said the agency was alerted, saying its quick intervention prevented further loss at the hospitality company.

She said, “The famous Airport Hotel on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja has been doused by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

“The Fire which involved a bungalow staff building of 11 rooms was met with raging and stopped from causing further damage beyond the affected six rooms while saving adjoining structures and the veteran hotel.

“While the cause of the Fire is being investigated, there was however no record of casualty in the unfortunate incident.”
