A fire outbreak on Thursday afternoon destroyed a section of the popular Ado Bayero House which accommodates the Northwest University City Campus at Kofar Nassarawa, Kano, causing panic and disruption of academic activities.
The fire, which reportedly started around 12:30 p.m., razed the ninth floor of the building where the Department of Computer Science of the University is located.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the upper floors, prompting immediate evacuation efforts.
Although emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the fire broke out, the cause of the blaze remained unclear.
Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi for an official statement were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The Ado Bayero House in Kano accommodates several offices and educational facilities.
