Fire Outbreak: Senator Williams Assures Ikom Market Traders Of Support

Senator representing Cross River Central senatorial district, Eteng Williams, has assured victims of Ikom Market fire incident of support.

The lawmaker gave the assurance when he met the traders who lost their goods to the fire outbreak which occurred on Sunday night.

Williams who visited the market to ascertain the degree of damage caused by the unfortunate incident expressed sympathy to the traders for the loss of goods worth several millions of Naira to the inferno expressing the joy that no life was lost in the tragedy.

“I know these are difficult times for the shop owners, which is why I came to visit myself to do the assessment, so we will see how we can support them to mitigate the losses,” Williams said.

He advised shop owners not to be reckless with the way and manner they manage their electrical appliances to avoid fire outbreak.

“We will work with the leadership of the market, and relevant state and federal government agencies to put an end to the incessant fire outbreaks in the Ikom market and environs,” he said.

“Fire outbreaks have become a recurring decimal in Ikom, the commercial nerve centre of the state – especially in the Ikom Main Market,” one of the traders lamented.
