Property estimated at N26.8 million were last Sunday night destroyed by a fire that razed a 10- room residential building in Ilorin, Kwara State.
LEADERSHIP gathered the fire outbreak occurred at 10.30 pm on Sunday at No 8, Loju community, off Asa-Dam Road Ilorin.
The spokesman of Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle confirmed the incident.
He said only seven rooms were affected by the fire as firemen were able to extinguish it before it reached the remaining three rooms.
Adekunle also confirmed that property worth N26.8 million were also consumed by the fire while property worth N35.6million were saved from the inferno.
He added, “Yesterday, Sunday 15th January, 2023, at about 22:30hrs (10:30PM) fire gutted a building of about ten rooms as a result of a power surge. This incident took place at No 8 Loju Community, Off Asa Dam Road, Ilorin, Ilorin West local government area of the state.
“Although the conflagration was huge, our firemen were able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and in no time the ravaging inferno was totally extinguished. Of 10 rooms in the building, seven rooms were affected.”
