Firm Trains Police IRT Personnel On Emergency, Rescue Operations

Personnel of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force have undergone specialised training in emergency response, rescue operations and tactical preparedness.

The two-day training organised by Edgard Consulting Limited under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, is aimed at strengthen police personnel operational capacity.

The training focused on rapid emergency response, tactical movement, rescue coordination and other areas of operations.

Speaking during the programme, the Principal Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Edgard Consulting Limited, Mr Edward Orim said the training was organised to equip police personnel with contemporary skills needed to respond effectively to emerging security threats and emergency situations.

According to him, the company remains committed to supporting national security through capacity building and professional training programmes for security agencies.

He noted that the training was offered free of charge to complement ongoing efforts to improve the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.

“We want to support our people because the police are our partners in maintaining security. Through continuous training and retraining, officers will be better prepared to respond to evolving security challenges and emergency situations,” he added.

One of the lead instructors, Mr Simeon Itodo said participants were exposed to global best practices in tactical operations, search and rescue, trauma management and emergency first aid.

“The officers were trained on weapon handling, search and rescue operations, anti-hostage scenarios, first aid and trauma management, including the management of gunshot injuries. The training meets international standards comparable to what obtains in countries such as Israel, the United States and parts of Europe,” he said.

Participants described the programme as practical and relevant to modern policing, noting that it improved their decision-making, teamwork and emergency response skills. They pledged to transfer the knowledge acquired to colleagues within their various units to enhance operational effectiveness across the force.
