The management of the First Bank Group has promised to be part of efforts d to make the University of Ibadan (UI) a technological and educational hub of learning in the country.
The bank‘s chief executive officer, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan who made the pledge at his investiture as UI@75 Ambassador, said resources must be mobilised to ensure that UI retains its premier position among universities in the country.
While noting that technology drives the world, lamented that Nigerian Universities were way behind, he pledged to help UI improve in the areas of technology which he said was very important to all courses of study.
He recalled his days at UI and applauded the university for giving him the opportunity to graduate in flying colours as well as moulding his character.
He said his days as a resident of Sultan Bello Hall and first ever non-final year student to be elected chief of the Sigma Club were memorable, saying it was an experience which shaped his views and thoughts that led him into the business world.
The CEO acknowledged that he had often reflected on his job performance and concluded that without the training he received in UI, he might not have been as successful as he is today.
The chairman of the UI@75 Anniversary Committee, Professor Peter Olapegba, identified the thematic projects for which the University intends to raise funds.
