West Midlands Open University (WMOU), a new online university has been given license to operate and award degrees to prospective students.

In a press statement made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday, the university announced that it  received license and formal approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer degree-granting programmes online in Nigeria as one of the first in the country.

The approval, according to the statement, would create exciting new opportunities for the new university to offer its diverse range of accredited programmes globally.

Speaking, the founder of the university, High Chief Adebayo Akande, said online education has become an essential tool in today’s rapidly changing world, saying the West Midlands Group is not a newcomer to the edutech industry.
