The member representing Obingwa West constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu has provided 1,200 bags of fertiliser for farmers in the constituency.
This was contained in a statement signed by his spokesperson, George Egejuru and made available to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the state capital. yesterday.
“The gesture is part of continued efforts by the House Committee chairman on Public Service to assist farmers in the constituency with inputs,” the statement read in part.
“Conscious of the challenges farmers go through to assess fertiliser, the legislator has decided to come to their aid by providing them with fertiliser to boost their production.”
“With the gesture, he has contributed, as he has been doing in other sectors of the economy of the constituency, to ensure food security in the constituency and the state at large”
The statement urged the farmers to visit their community headquarters from Tuesday to Wednesday between 8am and 2pm for collections of the fertiliser.
It further directed the community leaders to ensure that only genuine and identified farmers are supplied with the fertiliser to avoid it being diverted into wrong hands.
