President, Corporate United All-stars FC, Godwin Enemona Ekpah, has identified football as a tool to promote peace, unity, development and tackle unemployment worldwide.
He made the observation during the inauguration of Corporate United All-stars FC Ltd in Kubwa Abuja at the weekend, saying football has been the center for man’s unity as well as development in general.
According to him, Corporate United All-stars FC is aimed at identifying new talents and helping them to cater for their families and the society.
He said, “There is a lack of proper leadership in Nigeria which discouraged made-in-Nigeria sporting gears, tools to gadgets, facilities, equipment, among.
“Football makes us understand what unity, peace, and development is. It also helps to alleviate poverty and I believe with this we can remain united.”
Ekpah revealed that sporting competition was used by the Ivorian captain and Chelsea legend, Didier Yves Drogba, to unify different ethnic groups in his home country, Cote d’Ivoire.
While urging Nigerians to promote Nigerian products, Ekpan lauded All-stars, Raw Material Sports Club, Great Soccer Ambassador, Rep of Benson and Hedges and other special guests for attending the epoch event.
On his part, president of the board of committee of the club, Humphrey Ubimago, highlighted the expectations of Nigerians from the club and urged for competent hands on board.
The sponsor of the club, Lawrence Emmanuel, said he is full of excitement and expressed about the initiative put in place by the football academy and promised to provide them everything they needed.
