Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has strongly condemned the recent wave of killings in Plateau State and other parts of Northern Nigeria, blaming what he described as “foreign elements” for orchestrating violence aimed at destabilising Nigeria.
In a video circulating on social media, Fani-Kayode claimed that the perpetrators of the ongoing violence were not only local insurgents but foreign actors allegedly entering Nigeria through porous borders, with the intent of dividing the nation along religious and ethnic lines.
“They come in to slaughter our people, they are slaughtering both Christians and Muslims, northerners and southerners,” he said. “They want to destabilise the country and discredit the government. It was orchestrated and it is still being orchestrated.”
Drawing a parallel, Fani-Kayode warned that the current crisis bears resemblance to the build-up to the 2015 general elections, during which former President Goodluck Jonathan faced a similar wave of insurgency.
“This same thing happened in 2014 before Goodluck Jonathan was defeated. They are already doing that now, preparing ground for 2027,” he alleged. “We know who they are; foreign elements from the West and of course, Israel and a number of others. They don’t want a stable Nigeria.”
The former minister further decried the lynching of innocent citizens in retaliatory attacks based on ethnicity. “We also condemn the lynchings of innocent people, slaughtering them for no good reason. We must stop all this and rise up to this challenge,” he added.
Fani-Kayode called on both state and federal governments to take more decisive actions. He urged the Plateau State government to be “far more proactive” and demanded that Nigeria’s borders be sealed against foreign infiltration.
“I call on the federal government now to seal our borders and stop these foreign elements from coming into our country. Let us close our borders, just like Trump is doing in America,” he said. “Let’s eliminate every single one of them.”
Despite the inflammatory nature of some of his rhetoric, Fani-Kayode offered heartfelt condolences to victims of the violence. “My heart goes out to all those innocent people and families that have lost their loved ones in these barbaric killings. May the Lord console them, protect them, and heal their wounds.”
He concluded with a message of unity and resilience, “Nigeria shall stand. Nigeria shall not fall. We shall go from strength to strength and our democracy shall be enduring. God’s will shall be done, and we shall stand as one. Glory to Great Nigeria.”
