A former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections in Kano State, Dr. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Danbatta announced his decision in a letter addressed to his supporters, political associates, and stakeholders, saying the move followed extensive consultations and careful consideration.

He said he was convinced that the APC offers a better platform for him to contribute to the development of Kano State and the country.

“I hereby formally announce my decision to join the All Progressives Congress. This decision was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with my leaders, political associates, supporters and stakeholders,” he said.

Danbatta attributed his decision partly to what he described as the “visionary leadership” of Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, and the administration’s Kano First Agenda.

He said the agenda reflects commitment to good governance, human capital development, infrastructure renewal, and overall progress in the state.

He also cited the APC’s inclusiveness and commitment to the welfare of citizens as additional reasons for his defection.

“As I rejoin my political family, I reaffirm my unwavering commitment to the service of the people, the promotion of unity, and the pursuit of policies and programmes that will enhance peace, prosperity, and sustainable development,” he added.
