Friends of Regent Primary School (FORPS), Maitama, Abuja has expanded its Corporate Social Responsibility to two communities in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with the donation of two manual boreholes to the Kogo II and Barangoni communities of the council.
Speaking during the commissioning of the two boreholes in the two communities on Friday, the chairperson of the Friends of Regent Primary School, Mrs. Salma Dahiru Muhammed, said the project was a meaningful initiative that demonstrated the group’s commitment to community development and social impact.
She said, “Access to clean water is a basic human necessity, yet it remains a challenge in many parts of Abuja. This initiative is aimed at providing sustainable potable water, thereby promoting better health, supporting development and improving the living conditions of the beneficiary communities.
“These boreholes are testaments and benefits of collective action and a shared vision and the attendant positive impacts,” she noted, while expressing gratitude to all donors and volunteers who contributed to the success of the projects, emphasising that their generosity made the intervention possible.

She assured that the group would continue to show more dedication and increase its efforts to uplift underserved communities.

Headmaster of Regent Primary School, Mr. Shaun Stockden said the borehole project was conceived and completed in just seven months. “We organise annual fundraisers that support impactful community projects, and we look forward to initiating more of such interventions,” he said.

Vice chairperson of the school, Mrs. Fiona Ewa, said it became imperative to embark on the project following a viral video showing both people and animals sharing the same water source in some rural communities, which motivated the group to take action.
