The Niger-South Senior Stakeholders’ Forum (NSSF), has commended Governor Umar Bago of Niger State for taking a decisive action to restore the state’s capital to its former glory by curbing insecurity in Minna and its environs.

The forum gave the commendation at its Inaugural Executive Committee meeting, held on April 26, 2025, under the leadership of its chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Liman (Wazirin Baro/Zannan Agaie).

A statement by the secretary general of the Forum, Dr Mohammed Santuraki called for collaboration among all stakeholders, including parents and community leaders, to support the Niger State government’s efforts in addressing these pressing issues.

They also urged the youths to refrain from social vices and serve as good state ambassadors.

He said, “The NSSF aims to foster unity and collaboration among leaders and stakeholders of Niger-South Senatorial District, to advance and safeguard the political and developmental interests of our people and the zone in particular and Niger State at large.

“NSSF expressed full support for the Niger State governor, Hon. Muhammad Umaru Bago, in his infrastructural development strides and also efforts to ensure adequate security of lives and properties in the state.

“The committee notes that recently, Governor Bago took enhanced security measures with the aim of improving public order and safety.

“The NSSF notes that Minna, once a city of peace and harmony, had been plagued by fear due to the activities of street thugs and miscreants. It therefore hailed Governor Bago for taking decisive action to restore the state’s capital to its former glory.

“Very soon the forum would unveil plans for constructive engagements with both the Federal and State Governments and non-governmental organisations regarding the actualisation of some of the critical projects and programmes in our Zone and Niger State at large.”
