The convener, Unity House Foundation, Kingsley Wenenda Wali, has urged politicians in Rivers State to ensure peace, just as he faulted members of state House of Assembly for overriding Governor Sim Fubara on four bills.
Wenenda Wali said the action of the lawmakers was not proper, especially at a time Fubura was trying to play his part in the peace deal to resolve the crisis occasioned by differences between him and the former governor, Nyesom Wike.
Wali in a statement appealed to the assembly members loyal to Wike to exercise restraint in some of their actions to pave way for the restoration of peace in the state.
Wike, who worked hard for the victory of Fubara at the polls last year, has been at loggerheads with the governor, a situation that has caused a lot of tension in the state for a while now.
“I am urging the supporters of the minister in the state assembly to reciprocate the peace gestures of Governor Sim Fubara. Exercising their right to override the governor on four bills, on the same day that the governor swore in commissioners as part of the peace deal, cannot be an action in good faith,” he said.
