The Hadiza Aliyu’s Foundation (HAF) has condemned the reported violence against women and girls during a recent cultural festival in Ozoro, Delta State, describing the situation as a serious violation of human dignity and safety.

In a statement issued by its founder and chairperson, Hadiza Aliyu Muhammed, the foundation expressed concern over the alleged incidents and denounced all forms of violence against women and girls. HAF stands in solidarity with affected individuals and their families and calls for swift, transparent, and impartial justice.

The foundation urged the federal government, the Delta State government, and relevant law enforcement agencies to take immediate steps to investigate the allegations and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable in accordance with the law. It emphasized the need for a thorough and transparent investigative process, as well as timely legal action.

HAF also called on the Delta State Government to demonstrate leadership by addressing the situation with urgency and integrity, while ensuring that appropriate support services are made available to affected persons.

The Foundation stressed the importance of strengthening existing mechanisms for the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Hadiza Aliyu’s Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the rights and protection of women and girls and to promoting a society free from violence, abuse, and discrimination.

The Foundation also called on civil society organisations, community leaders, and all Nigerians to work collectively to ensure justice, accountability, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
