Foundation Honours Outstanding Civil Servants

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has honoured outstanding civil servants for their contributions to public service delivery across Nigeria.

The event was held in Abuja during the 2026 Civil Service Week as the foundation marked the fifth anniversary of the Emily Aig-Imoukhuede Memorial Endowment Fund.

Established in 2022 in memory of the late Pastor Emily Aig-Imoukhuede, the Endowment Fund celebrates public servants whose careers reflect service, integrity, compassion and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.

The foundation said the initiative was established to recognise public servants whose dedication, professionalism and impact continue to strengthen public service delivery in the country.

The honourees were recognised under two categories: the Presidential Civil Service Merit Award and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Epic Award.

The awards recognise public servants who demonstrated excellence, accountability, professionalism and commitment to service.

Among the recipients was Anthony Okechukwu Ogwo, an alumnus of the Aig-Imoukhuede Public Leaders Programme, Cohort 5.

The Foundation said Ogwo’s recognition also demonstrated its commitment to developing the capacity of public servants to provide effective leadership across the public service.

Speaking at the Civil Service Week Awards event, the Director of Programmes at the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Chioma Njoku, said recognising excellence remained important to strengthening public institutions.

Njoku said public servants played a critical role in determining the quality of governance and improving outcomes for citizens.

She said, “Public servants play a vital role in shaping the quality of governance and improving outcomes for citizens.

“Through the Emily Aig-Imoukhuede Memorial Endowment Fund, we celebrate individuals whose commitment to excellence, integrity and service sets a standard for others and reinforces the values that underpin an effective and citizen-centred public service.”

Marking the fifth anniversary of the Endowment Fund, Njoku said the Foundation remained committed to initiatives that promote professionalism and recognise excellence in the public service.

She added that the Foundation would continue to support efforts aimed at improving Nigeria’s public service.

Since its establishment, the Emily Aig-Imoukhuede Memorial Endowment Fund has awarded more than 60 million to civil servants across over 50 Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The awards were given in recognition of outstanding service and contributions to public sector excellence.

The Endowment Fund is one of several initiatives through which the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation supports the development of high-performing public sector leaders and institutions.

The Foundation said the continued recognition of exceptional civil servants was aimed at encouraging a culture of excellence, accountability and professionalism within Nigeria’s public service.
