The chief executive officer of the NGO and minister in  charge of United English Baptist Church Akwanga, Dr Samson Chuga,  told journalists on Friday that the initiative which was in partnership with Water, USA, cost N90 million.

He said although the body was also touching lives in education, health and other sectors that directly affect ordinary people, it was investing more in water because of its role in human existence.

He said the borehole projects which commenced in 2017, covered several local government areas such as Akwanga, Nassarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia among others.

Chuga also disclosed that the foundation had provided educational facilities in rural communities.

He said the projects initiated in the education sector include classrooms blocks, books and writing materials among others.

According to him,  the NGO also disbursed about N9 million to rural women to enable them become self reliant and contribute positively to the development of the country.

“ Our aims and objectives also include to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism, organising seminars, workshops and on radio, television and other modes of communication.

“To preach peace and to promote peaceful co-existence in our society to provide free medical assistance to rural communities by providing free drugs treatments, establishment of health care centres among others,” he said.

The village head of Buku community in Akwanga, Ibrahim Sule, told journalists during an inspection visit that his community with a population of 25, 000 relied on the donated boreholes as their only source of clean water.

Sule, while thanking the foundation for all it had done for the benefit of humanity, called on other NGOs and spirited individuals to emulate the foundation.
