Alex Otti Foundation has granted 50 indigent students nationwide N250,000 scholarship each for the 2025/2026 academic session under its undergraduate scholarship programme.
At the event held at Government House, Umuahia, the governor and founder of the foundation, Alex Otti, said the scholarship is based on merit and open to all Nigerians.
“The programme was instituted by the foundation for brilliant undergraduate students from less-privileged homes across the country and has been running for about 10 years now.
“Once you merit it, you get it. My charge to you is that you continue in that spirit, continue to work hard, continue to make your parents and the foundation proud,” he said.
Explaining that the foundation is neither a political movement nor a pro-group, he congratulated them for emerging winners of the grant and presented dummy cheques to them.
In a keynote address, the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Christopher Okoro, said the essence of education is to develop morals, skills, and critical thinkers to become useful in society.
Okoro, who titled his address “Quality Education as Fulcrum for Building Responsive and Effective Leadership,” commended the governor for the establishment of the foundation.
Responding on behalf of others, Godwin Ndubuisi and Chinyere Chijioke expressed gratitude to the governor and the foundation, describing the grant as a huge relief to their parents and guardians.
Earlier in a welcome address, the executive secretary of the foundation, Chidiebere Nnanna, urged them to accept the grant as a springboard to greatness and positive impact.
