Foundation Targets 1,000 Abia Youths For Training

Senator Augustine Akobundu Foundation has targeted 1,000 youths in Abia Central district for a digital skill technology training programme next year.

Senator Austin Akobundu (Abia Central), stated this at the end of a 6-week training programme for 186 youths from the district and beyond in Umuahia, the state capital.

The foundation financier charged the graduates to use the knowledge to create businesses that will contribute positively to the growth of the country’s economy.

The senator further noted that the skills are not just tools for individual success, but pathways to innovation, economic productivity and community development.

“Empowering the youth is the most sustainable way to build the human development index of the district and create a brighter future for all”, the retired Army colonel said.

“The training centered on six high demand areas of digital technology such as cybersecurity operations, graphics design, digital marketing, website development, forex trading and UI/UX design.”

The erstwhile minister of state for defence, who noted that the training was worth millions of naira cumulatively, lauded the facilitators as well congratulated the graduands.

One of the highlights of the occasion was the presentation of awards to the best graduates by the Peoples Democratic Party Senator and its former organising secretary.
