Hazras Charity Foundation (HCF), with funding support from MAA International, has commenced the implementation of its Qurban 2026 humanitarian project across Kano State, aimed at providing relief and support to vulnerable residents during the Eid al-Adha celebration.
The initiative involves the slaughtering and distribution of 500 goats to approximately 1,750 beneficiaries, including orphans, persons living with disabilities, elderly persons, and other vulnerable households across selected communities in the state.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja by the head of Media, Mr Jabir Hassan, the foundation said the programme is part of its continued efforts to ensure that disadvantaged families also share in the blessings and joy associated with the Qurban season.
Speaking during the implementation exercise, the secretary of Hazras Charity Foundation, Zahrau Isa Mukhtar, expressed appreciation to MAA International for its partnership and support for humanitarian work in Nigeria.
She noted that the collaboration would go a long way in improving the welfare of vulnerable groups and strengthening community support systems across Kano State.
According to the foundation, the project was carefully structured to ensure transparency, accountability, efficiency, and the timely distribution of fresh meat to beneficiaries.
The implementation process includes the procurement and verification of animals, slaughtering in line with Islamic guidelines, hygienic meat processing, packaging, distribution, beneficiary verification, and crowd management.
The organisation stated that priority was given to orphans, persons living with disabilities, elderly individuals, and low-income households identified through community-based selection processes.
Beneficiaries who received the intervention expressed gratitude to the foundation and its donor partner, describing the support as timely in view of current economic challenges facing many families.
They said the distribution would help reduce hardship during the Eid al-Adha period and provide essential relief to vulnerable households.
Hazras Charity Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining humanitarian interventions across Nigeria and called for stronger collaboration among humanitarian organisations, donors, government agencies, and community stakeholders to further improve the welfare of vulnerable populations.
The foundation added that the Qurban 2026 Project remains one of its flagship humanitarian programmes for the year, reflecting the shared commitment of HCF and MAA International to compassion, dignity, and community support.
It further pledged to continue implementing impactful initiatives aimed at alleviating suffering and improving livelihoods across disadvantaged communities in the country.
