A non governmental organisation, Inna-Tafida Foundation based in Jega in Jega local government area of Kebbi State has trained secondary school female graduates on various skills in order to become self reliant.
At the graduation ceremony held at the Town Hall at Filin Tsakuwa in Jega town, the coordinator of the foundation, Abubakar Na’amare Jega (1st Majikiran Jega), said the foundation started with 30 trainees and later 50 and now 200.
According to him, the trainees were drawn from poor families and received various skills acquisition training such as tailoring, cake making, hairdressing and bakery.
Jega also revealed that the foundation during the graduation ceremony distributed skills acquisition materials such as sewing machines, bakery equipment and other materials to the graduates for them to practice what they were trained for.
The wife of the state governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, who was represented by the commissioner for women affairs, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, charged the graduates to expand the various skills they were trained by training others.
She commended the foundation for the training and urged other well-to-do people to emulate the foundation towards reduction of unemployment rate, particularly among young women in the state.
