Bauchi-based Wunti Al-Khair Foundation says it is committed to building stronger, healthier, and more prosperous communities in Bauchi State through empowering the youth and adults with various forms of interventions.

The foundation enumerated some of the interventions to include empowering them with technology skills, supporting farmers with inputs, helping entrepreneurs formalise their businesses, or providing relief to vulnerable families, saying its focus is impact, not politics.

Its director of programmes, Mustapha Ango, said that in looking into the future, the foundation will continue to design and deliver programmes that adequately respond to the needs and yearnings of the people and appealed to the press to be supportive and committed to spreading developmental messages of the foundation.

Ango revealed to a press conference held at NUJ Bauchi yesterday that the foundation has so far trained over 1, 000 entrepreneurs and business owners in business mindset, financial marketing and access to finance, explaining that the sessions are practical, interactive, and designed to help businesses scale.

Ango stated, that the foundation also sponsored the free Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration of more than 100 businesses in Bauchi, saying the sponsorship will help the enterprises secure legal status to access loans, grants, and formal opportunities.

According to him, the intervention is particularly important because many entrepreneurs in Bauchi operate informally, which he observed, limits their growth potential, hence formalizing their businesses would ensure that Bauchi’s entrepreneurs are not left behind.

Alh. Mustapha Ango further explained the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation is driven by a vision of building stronger communities through interventions in education, agriculture, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and social welfare.

Ango said the goal of the foundation is to create opportunities that change lives while ensuring that the most vulnerable are not left behind. He stressed that it has over the past months rolled out several initiatives that cut across different sectors of the economy.

He also gave other areas of interventions as technology and youth empowerment which encapsulates the Bala Wunti Technology Fellowship designed to prepare young people from Bauchi for future work, and equipping them with the skills, exposure, and networks they need to thrive in the technology-driven economy.

“Recently, The Bala Wunti Tech Fellowship 2025 cohort embarked on a transformative industrial experience trip to Lagos, coinciding with GITEX Nigeria 2025, as part of the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation’s mission to build a technologically advanced Bauchi by equipping youth with globally relevant skills and exposure”.

“At GITEX, fellows engaged with global and local technology leaders, explored emerging digital trends, and build valuable networks. A standout moment came when Muhammad, a 2024 fellow, showcased his startup at the exhibition, which highlighted how the fellowship is nurturing Bauchi-born innovators for national and international impact”.

Mustapha Ango, also highlighted the impact of the foundation’s Fertiliser for Farmers Initiative under the Bauchi Agricultural Advancement Programme (BAAP).

According to him, agriculture remains the backbone of Bauchi State’s economy, yet many smallholder farmers struggle to access essential inputs such as fertiliser.

“Through BAAP, we recently launched the Fertiliser for Farmers Initiative, which is providing fertiliser to 6,000 farmers across several local government areas,” he explained.

Ango also disclosed that, ahead of the recent Eid-ul-Maulud celebration, the foundation distributed food essentials to Muslim faithful across different communities in Bauchi State.

“The aim was to ease the burden of rising costs and ensure families could celebrate with dignity and joy. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to compassion and solidarity. We believe celebrations should not be defined by hardship, and through this gesture, we were able to bring smiles to many households,” he added.

He emphasised that the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation is a non-political, charity-driven organisation, purely focused on humanitarian and developmental causes.

“We have observed with concern that some individuals attempt to impersonate the Foundation or use our name for political or personal gain. Let me state categorically. We dissociate ourselves completely from such actions.

“We urge the public and our colleagues in the media to always verify any information about the Foundation directly from our office or official channels before dissemination. Together, we must protect the integrity of the work we are doing,” Ango stressed.

He reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to building stronger, healthier, and more prosperous communities by empowering the youth with technology skills, supporting farmers with agricultural inputs, assisting entrepreneurs in formalising their businesses, and providing relief to vulnerable families.
