The French Institute of Nigeria recently organised a sensational concert at the Abuja Continental Hotel to celebrate World Music Day.
The event had its audience bedazzled with performers from different cultural backgrounds coming together to showcase their musical talents, foster unity, and create an electrifying and diverse atmosphere.
The audience was treated to a mesmerizing performance of music from Abuja-based A-list artists such as Morell, Jumiee, Peerayce and many other talents. The fusion of international sounds made it an unforgettable celebration of rhythm and depth.
Speaking on the social significance of the event, the Deputy Director of the French Institute of Nigeria, Magaly Losange, disclosed that music is the best way to connect people irrespective of their backgrounds.
She stated: “It’s a worldwide event that started in 1982 by the then Minister of Culture. We thought that it was important to not only celebrate the change of season but also the passion, and the connection to music. So what was at the beginning a very small event in Paris has become something global.
“As you can see, we had a great selection tonight; we had Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa music, and most importantly, we’re all together connected to unwind and have fun.”
One of the attendees, Aniekan Ben, couldn’t hold her excitement as she showered encomium on the institute.
“I am so excited to be here. It’s been a night of great music and good vibes. All the artists who performed brought their ‘A’ game to the stage. commend the French Institute of Nigeria for putting up this great event and I hope we have more of this kind,” Ben stated.
