The French Minister of Trade and Competitiveness, Oliver Becht has lauded Zenith Bank’s choice of Paris to expand its European presence.
Becht who stated this at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the bank at its headquarters in Lagos, thanked Zenith Bank’s Chairman and Founder Jim Ovia for the step.
“We are thrilled to welcome in France Zenith Bank’s first office inside the EU. It is undoubtedly a demonstration of mutual confidence.
“We hope the presence of Zenith Bank in France will help foster new business projects between our two continents. This decision, in many respects, can be regarded as a milestone in French-Nigerian economic relations and an illustration of our friendship,” e said.
The Press Officer, Embassy of France in Nigeria, Onyinye Madu in a statement said the the Minister also met with Engie Energy Access Nigeria’s management team.
The meeting focused on investment opportunities, strategic partnerships and initiatives to strengthen economic ties between France and Nigeria in the solar energy industry.
Becht commended Engie Energy Access for its commitment to sustainable development and efforts to bring clean and affordable energy to Nigerian communities.
He emphasised the importance of foreign investment in the energy sector to promote economic growth and social development in Nigeria.
