Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved two area office commands and units for Abia State as part of its expansion programme.
Abia State sector commander of the corps, Paul Ugwu stated this during a courtesy visit to the chief of staff to the governor, Paul Ajagba in his office in Umuahia, the state capital.
The commander said the units would be established at Ikwuano along Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene Road, and Ogbor Hill, Aba to ease traffic flow along the axis.
He said the essence of the visit was to familiarize with the present administration in the state and to solicit its partnership in tackling some of the challenges facing the command.
Responding, Ajagba charged the commander and the command to be more proactive in putting measures on ground to reduce carnages on roads in the state.
He called for stronger synergy between the command and the state Road Traffic Management Agency in ensuring free flow of traffic across the state especially, the urban areas and environs.
Assuring the commander of the support of the administration for the command to deliver its mandate, he added that this had become very important as the ember months are fast approaching.
