FRSC, in a statement on Monday by its Head, Education and Information Unit, Olayinka Basambo, said the free vehicles safety check would be conducted between March 17 and 20, 2025.

The statement reads: “The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kwara State Command is embarking on free vehicle safety check begining from 17 – 20 of March 2025 .

“In view of the above, personnel of the Corps have been deployed on the road, motor parks, fleet operators, ministries and departments for the purpose of conducting safety checks on all manners of vehicles with a view to advising vehicle owners as appropriate.

“The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Muftau A Irekeola appreciated all road users that have been complying with traffic rules and regulations. He also enjoys other motorists to pay attention to those areas that needs to be corrected as identified by FRSC personnel.”

Some of the commercials transporters that spoke with LEADERSHIP on the development, pledged their support for the Corps in carrying out the programme.

A commercial driver, Malam Ganiyu Ayegbami described the exercise as a welcome development.

He said it would encourage the vehicle owners to keep their vehicles road worthy at all times for their safety, and that of the commuters.

A private car owner, Mal. Muhammad Rabiu hailed the FRSC over the initiative, noting that auto accidents prevention starts from vehicles’ road worthiness.
