FRSC, NSCDC Deploy 5,139 Personnel For Eid-el-Kabir In Kano

The Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have deployed a combined 5,139 personnel across Kano State ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to ensure security, traffic control and emergency response.

The FRSC Kano Sector Command said it deployed 1,889 personnel, comprising regular officers and special marshals, for a week-long special patrol operation scheduled to run from 25 May to 31 May 2026.

In a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, the Sector Commander, CC Idris Mohammed Lawal, said the operation was aimed at reducing road crashes, traffic congestion and other highway emergencies during the festive period.

He said the command had also deployed 24 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, one heavy-duty tow truck, two operational motorcycles, radar guns and breathalysers to strategic locations across the state.

According to him, the special patrol will target traffic offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving and operation of unroadworthy vehicles.

Lawal added that mobile courts would remain operational to ensure the speedy prosecution of traffic offenders, while emergency rescue teams had been placed on maximum alert for rapid response.

The sector commander urged motorists to avoid excessive speed, drunk driving, overloading and night journeys, warning that unsafe road behaviour could lead to avoidable crashes during the Sallah celebrations.

Similarly, the Kano State Command of the NSCDC said it had deployed 3,250 operatives across the state to provide security during and after the festivities.

In a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, said personnel had been stationed at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres and other public places.

The statement added that security had also been strengthened around critical national assets and infrastructure, while the Corps’ Rapid Response Squad had been directed to intensify surveillance and patrol operations.

The NSCDC warned thugs and other criminal elements to stay away from activities capable of disrupting public peace, saying offenders would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Both agencies appealed to residents to cooperate with security operatives and traffic officials to ensure peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebrations across the state.
