The South-South Youth Initiative (SSYI) has accused the administration of Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara of not having any agenda for youths.

It said youths of the state were tired of hearing statements about plans and now want actions that would encourage them and lead to a crime-free society.

SSYI president, Comrade Oscar Saviour Imeade, spoke yesterday on a radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Imeade said: “We are yearning for a time when things will be feasible. We are tired of hearing about plans. We have been hearing of plans from the beginning.

“It is also very annoying that this current administration does not have plans for the youths. There is no agenda for the youths. The youths are not included in his agenda.

“The governor is a youth and the commissioner (Youth Affairs) is also a youth. But, does the governor even have an agenda for his government and governance? Does he have a blueprint that we want to work on, that the youth are also part of?

“It is not just appointing a commissioner because you want to appoint a commissioner for youths. What are the priorities for that office? Now, the plans that you have; how long is it going to take you to design those plans and his feasible are those plans?

“We need action; we are done with statements and plans. What the youths are looking at is an action plan that can drive their demands and make them come out of crime. We want a situation where there can be a crime-free society.”
